Hi Paul,

A lovely looking bird , just missed out on one of these the other week so well done on the capture.

As for the BG , this really spoils the image IMO , very untidy and very distracting , but that said it's one more drake Smew shot than I have , so once again well done.

Regards

Andy...

Hi Paul

Looks as if you were shooting through some vegetation, but you didn't let it stop you getting the shot. Nice low PoV. Well done on the exposure - looks nightmarish, and also for getting the eye to stand out in that dark cheek patch - balancing both must have been interesting

You have done well to get this shot and the exposure looks good, not a very easy bird at all. I think that the bg is a problem for me. Have you blurred it on a seperate layer or something? If so it may do better with something less extreme?

i think it looks like a bit of PSing on the BG judging by the poor continuity of the reflection (furthest part of the ripple) i think it's not that bad, just could probably be done a little better on the water part, but very time consuming. i would definitley clone out the oof
heavy sawn off branch on the lhs. more distracting than the BG.

mark.
