Fall shooting didn't go so well for me this year. I'd just gotten back from the Southwest as the aspens were turning and just didn't have the time to get back out and do much. On top of that, the winds were wild and the weekends were stormy.
This photo is a result of those winds on Rampart Range Road.

I would like some feedback as to whether the photos have appeal.

# 2 in the series, taken a few yards south of the image above. Probably my best example of the fall color this year. Also shot with the 50/1.4

And the last one of the group. This one is very close to home. In fact, I shot it out my front door. JPEG compression is KILLING the detail and sharpness in this image. It was shot with the 70-300IS at 235mm and cropped slightly to remove a bit of roof (maybe 5% cropped).

If you shot that last one out your front door, watch out for that first step...looks like a long one! I like the first photo a lot...not a shot you see very often. Number 2 looks a little pale and number 3 could us a little saturation but otherwise a nice shot.

Yeah,
We had a *Very* windy Fall. Ask Kalin about that one in the San Juans. As he and I were driving from along Last Dollar Road toward Telluride the wind was going nuts. We ended up helping move ~ 15 medium to very large downed aspens. It took 2 chains saws and half a dozen people to finally clear a path. It was like a war zone as you could hear the trees squeaking and cracking - a bit scary and surreal to say the least.
I like #2 the best--nice soft light and color. #1 is very interesting and has potential, but the conflict betwn bg and fg is strong. You might consider a little PS cheating and blur the bg, so the cracked tree stands out.
