Ok,
All this talk about the big storm pounding the Sierras got me thinking about Storm Pictures. So I would like to see what you have taken during a snow storm.

Great topic!

This one took some minor work. There was a snowflake right in front of his left (our right) eye, so I just burned it in to make it go away.

What a cool topic, I really like that snow shot Derek from RMNP, the first link!, and Todd, cool wildlife images!!. Unfortunately my storm images mainly are taken in rain, rather than snow. Need to add some snow storm ones to my collection!.

Great images! I really like the first image by Scott. I like the sense of motion.

Lnogs Peak at sunrise, January 2007. The wind was so bad that Rocky Mountain National Park was closed for several hours. The park service could not keep the roads plowed. I took the picture at the main entrance to the park.

Scott, that Berthoud Pass image is stunning! Looks like a b&w painting with the moving snow.

Neat idea for a topic and some really cool shots. Its funny how few shots I've taken while its actually snowing out! I did find a couple, but both were back in MN. Hope ya don't mind.

Split Rock Lighthouse on Lake Superior

And then Guy comes along and blows us all out of the water with a freakin' eagle-in-flight shot. WOW!

Yeah,
Guy those are great!!! I love the eagle shot - in flight, in the snow and Sharp! Wow...
Most eagle shots I have seen latley have been those of the bird sitting on a branch, etc...
And I am a sucker for a nice lighthouse shot. I have never seen one in the snow like this.
Todd, I really like those animal shots. The second one is my favorite of the two - great color and contrast with the white background!

Thanks guys!
Its funny how that works Todd. Back in MN there was a large group of us who were somewhat obsessed with shooting eagles. Pretty soon all our shots became very commonplace (with one another anyway) and we didn't think too much about them. Now when I saw your elk in the snow shot I started salivating cuz that's something I don't see much of and would really like to get in the portfolio.
Derek, it was the same way with that lighthouse. Its an icon in MN so I shot it during the snowstorm just to get something a little different from what everyone else had.
Photographed in Feb. or March of 2007. Awesome work posted so far, folks!

Good idea... great shots so far! Guy your eagle shot is incredible! Here's some deer chilling right outside my door when I lived in the foothills above Boulder.

Jack,
I really like that shot. They look very relaxed and 'chilled out.' LOL ...

For some reason, I don't have many shots I'm happy with during a storm, but here is one I dug up on the computer. If I remember correctly, it was Torrey's Peak in this shot.

I haven't shot many. But here is one from last year in RMNP. This is not a B&W:

And here is right after:

That is a killer shot. I love how the angle of the snow fall shows its intensity.
