I'm new to NPN and PNWNP, and thought I'd weigh in with a photo from Monday afternoon. This heron was fishing at Fort Flagler State Park at the shoreline campground across from Port Townsend. The sun was nearly down, and I caught a flying sequence that included this shot of the heron sliding its toes across the surface of the water as it made its final approach to a new fishing spot.

Hi Norman and welcome to the forum!! Great Blue Herons are a favorite subject of mine and I love the capture you have here! Good composition leaving plenty of room in the image for the bird! My only nit would be to brighten this up just a bit.
