Places to return to
Happy New Year to all. I have been absent from the forum due to an extremly busy December Schedule. Because of recent storms I postponed my first photo trip of the new year and found myself going through old files. I happened upon some images from a dive trip to Curacao and among them was this image of an abandoned lighthouse on the island of Klein Curacao. I only had about 45 minutes to explore this island which is just slightly larger than a mall parking lot and as flat. I would like to return someday.

I like that empty foreground giving a hint for being abandoned and there is some kind of spot light along with white/gray grass, around light house too.

Very nice, Paul.

Looking at this photo, its hard to imagine that the place is as small as you mention. I somehow get the impression that it is a vast open area.

Thanks for the comments.

Murali, the "spot light" is just taking advantage of the fast moving clouds to provide some texture to a very flat landscape. The white/gray grass are the coral rocks that make up the island.

Anil, Yes it is a small speck of an Island, but the perspective and unique architecture of the lighthouse, kind of a Dutch colonial, make for a location with fascinating possibilities. The attached photo shows the lighthouse and a wrecked freighter that sits on the far shore.

Here is the freighter, just for scale.

Paul,

Nice shots from that "tiny" little island. I agree with Anil's comments on the first one - it certainly depicts a much vaster landscape. The shipwrecked freighter is cool too.

Thanks for posting these,

Lon
