San Juans are getting buried!
Sounds like the San Juans are getting hammered. Wolf Creek Pass, Molas Pass, Coal Bank Pass, Grand Mesa, Red Mountain Pass, Cumbres-La Manga passes, even Highway 149 NORTH (???) of Lake City, all closed due to adverse weather conditions (the latter due to an avalanche). Wolf Creek ski area reports 39" of snow in 24 hours, and a snow base on top of 147". That's two of me tall, plus an inch! I wish I knew when this photo from their Web site was taken, but even if it wasn't sometime recently, I imagine that's about what it looked like today. (probably a little darker right now...)

I'm already thinking of these recent storms in the context of summer wildflowers. :jump:

I had a great day of riding knee-deep powder at Telluride today. Everybody was stoked! :toast:

Jack, I'm jealous. I hope that there is still some powder left in Summit County come this weekend.

Some left? More likely there'll be some more delivered! :jump:

I was backcountry skiing at Cameron Pass on Sunday, at least 10" new, on a decent base and not crowded. I hope it keeps dumping like this!

Awesome skiing conditions right now, if only my ski boots weren't on a moving truck still

Yep all that snow was surely great, but we definitely suffered down here east of Bayfield as we finally got power back here this morning after three long, dark, cold, and waterless nights. I'll be definitely shopping for a backup generator in the coming week!! :frown: On the positive side, it was a lot of fun (and exhausting) snowshoeing the hillsides around our place in over two feet of fresh snow! I can only imagine what it looks like up in the mountains. Me thinks I'll be taking a drive today now that it appears they've cleared the avalanches on Coal Bank and Molas passes. It looks like Wolf Creek and Red Mountain passes are still closed off though.

I'm looking forward to seeing your winterwonderland photos, Guy.

I hope your pipes survived the freeze !

Snowpack in the San Juans is currently at 157% of average. Hopefully, that will translate into great wildflowers this summer.
