Surfs Up
I went to Donna on Saturday with my young son who likes to take pictures as well as I have been promising to take him for ages. It was very cold and windy and we had the beach to ourselfs which was great. The wind was helping the surf get up and the waves were great as the crashed over the seals heads.

Canon EOS 1D MK11, 500mm Lens, F4, 1/1000, ISO Rating 200

Love it, particularly the way there's still a relatively clear view of the seals face emerging from all that flying water.

Empty beach... that must be a first.. as to the image the seal is unobscured but I'd crop it to portrait to emphasize the seal as I think the the water either side adds little to the image.

Hi Danny - super image matey :toast:

I can see where Tom is coming from, but to be honest I think I'd prefer it as is - all a matter of personal choice!

Really like as is.

Love it, well done :toast: :toast:

Maintaining your consistently high standard again Danny. An intriguing image. As for the suggested crop I don't agree, I'd chop an inch off the left to set the Seal off centre.

Hello Mark

He did and he took some good images as well, it was very cold and at one point we were contemplating coming home but he hung in there and we stayed all day. I carried the kit, he carried the sandwiches.

I like that how it is, the LS format gives room for the whole halo of water droplets. Super shot.

Great shot
I agree with the "leave it as it is" camp.

Lacks 'punch' Danny - try brightening it a bit by adjusting the levels/curves/contrast as the mid range looks fairly even.

Nick beat me to it, needs a lift,I think the best way would be in levels here, but looks a great shot.... good to hear of another youngster taking an interest.. encourage him.

All the best & speak soon

Nice,i like it but i feel its missing that "ZING" which brings it out.
Posted by Paul Gibbs on January 7, 2008 at 4:28 PM
Danny if you dont mind, i think this adds to the waters effect a little?
