Went to Paris for Christmas (as you may know) and enjoyed it very much. Seeing as I turned into a travel photographer last year I realise I really enjoy photographing cities and the adventures they hold within.

It was unbelievably knackering, I spent eight days and walked literally everywhere until I did my knee in. The hotel was in the red light district! Stupid drunken idiots, brawling half naked punch ups in the street, girls screaming and pulling hair wielding stilettos (the shoe not the dagger thankfully!), winos and hookers blowing smoke from Gitanes in darkened doorways... oh we can laugh about it now but at the time it was awful! Its fantastic how bad circumstances become fond memories.

Anyway heres a portfolio of images for you to look at, my personal favourites.

Merci

Thanks for that David, I have just had a quick look at those. Some lovely stuff there and it does one good to have a look at other fields for a change. I don't know whether I have been watching too many old movies, but I like Paris in B&W best. I would have loved to have seen some B&Ws of brawling hookers and street-fighting drunks, but I guess that wouldn't sell too well in the travel market!!
Thanks for sending that stuff on layers - very helpful - I have plans!

Hi Dave,

An impressive portfolio indeed! Some memories jumped in from my visit to Paris some time ago. Pigal isn't a pleasing place to walk around at night, especially on your own. And since I destroyed my knee just a day before going to Paris, my most vivid memory is coursing every single stair from Mont Martre . They look much more pleasant in your photo. I too like B&W photos of yours very much, but contrary to Eric probably because I look at too many photos of Brassai's night photos of Paris.

Cheers,
Marko

What a great collection of images David - I particularly like Big Fat Diamond, The Iron Cross, She Rides for Victory, Sine and Cosine and Jardin de Tuilieres.

And isn't 234 the set of steps featured in that AWESOME movie Ronin?

Really great work David - just goes to show there's more to life than bloody nuthatches - I really do need to get out more

Great stuff :toast: :toast:

Have you been to the Devon countryside town of Stokeinteignhead on a Friday night Dave?

A beautiful collection of images Dave, well worth the trip!

Chris.

A cracking portfolio - good research and time in the field and no doubt several hours of processing too well spent. I'm sure you'll get some revenue from these.

Ha ha, sounds like Torquay for like! I was in 'Bohemia' last weekend and someone got glassed, the place was empty as it was 10pm, I never saw it as I was in the DJ booth and suddenly there appeared this lad, blood running down hs face all over his white T shirt and all over the floor. He was a total mess, completely shocked. Errgh, just like some slasher movie, I called all the staff and bouncers, then it was an ambulance, then police. Subsiquently it was a shit night!

Anyway on a lighter note, Marko, I saw this photo of Montmartre Steps by Brassai, what a killer shot, photographed in the day as I remember with a touch of fog and hard light, such a beautiful shot. I never saw any night time ones though, but I converted the image to look all inky and darkroom processed. Sounds like we both hobbled up the same steps! I stayed in Pigalle, on one of the back streets.

Andy, I am not sure about the Ronin film, but I bet you are right as its a famous viewpoint.

Please have a look at my thread on Trademarks and Copyright, I need some help...
