FWIW, Costco is having a coupon sale on the SANDisk Extreme II 4GB CF cards - $10 off the $49.99 price. I think the sale goes through the end of the month.
Oops!! That should have read "...SANDisk Ultra II" - not Extreme II. Apparently this is an in-store price only. The online Costco price is $45 with the coupon. The online offer is only good through the 13th.
In some ways, buying off eBay may be no different than buying off a guy on the city street corner - just because it says a name brand on it, doesn't mean it's the real thing.

FYI,,,You can tell a phoney SanDisk CF card by the silver border running around the outside of the face of the card. The silver border running across the top will be wider on a copy than on an original.

Don - The problem is that that doesn't even always do it. Some of the fakes are actual SanDisk cards, just re-marked as a higher priced Sandisk card. There have even been reports of "bad" cards (functioning, but slow, or with unacceptable numbers of bad bits) that were supposed to be scrapped or sold as very cheap cards, instead being rebranded as Extremes or Ultras. This doesn't happen through normal sales channels, but has been known to happen on eBay.

David, Interesting input. I guess the best thing to do as many have mentioned stay away from E-Bay card sales.

Try Amazon. They usually have more than one vendor for each product, often with different prices. The listed lowest price isn't always the lowest in the end, though, if state taxes and shipping are figured in. I just got an 8GB Extreme III delivered for $134.79.

Every so often Staples will have a sale on the ultra II. Several months ago I bought several 2GB for less than $25 each. Not sure if they still have the sales like those though, but I did notice several in a row, about once every couple weeks.

For some ideas. don't know what size card you're looking for.
