Split Shallow Falls
Tucked away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life.......

Camera: Nikon D300
Exposure: 1.6 sec (8/5)
Aperture: f/14
Focal Length: 10 mm
ISO Speed: 100

I am planning on shooting this again soon.....suggestions????

Darren, I like the scene a lot. Looks like the D300 does a nice job. To improve the composition, I would personally crop out some of the foreground water, perhaps half way between the bottom of the frame and the first boulder.

I agree with Hans - possibly cropping out the foreground to just below the first boulder, and also cropping the left edge off to the middle of the same boulder, if you're re-shooting this scene. That lower bit of riffle is the most interesting part of the foreground to me. Darren, didn't you shoot this scene from a bit further upstream last Spring, with the falls a bit more in view? I'm undecided on whether the mostly obscured falls is a plus or minus on this one. I think it might be a little too obscured.

Thanks, there are just some places where you can step and be ok and a few feet away you will sink to your waist.........this has lots of water in it now and it would be really tough to make it up to the falls.....maybe with some rain gear on and a waterproof bag for the camera.....getting up is not so bad....but its the getting back down part that really messes things up!
