Goosander
The weather was great yesterday-the first time for weeks so i popped down to the Lake with my brother who is visiting at the moment and shot some Goosanders for a couple of hours,This is full frame and had some great shots but with clipped wings, The MK3 tracked the birds great (firmware 1.1.3) but did end up with some series where out of 7 frames only 2 would be acceptable even though the AF point was on the bird all the way-maybe abit tight in the frame for some but i am happy with the shoot, The MK3 has now gone away for the 'fix'

A striking pose caught at just the right moment. Saturation looks a bit high Dave.

Shame about the clipping but a very cool shot Dave :toast:

Other than the clipping a cracker of a shot Dave - particularly like the ripple highlight reflections on the birds belly and the toe just catching the surface - belter of a capture :toast: :toast:

Well done, a lovely action shot.
You can live with the tight framing, but I'd be tempted to add a smidgin on the left side,.

That is super - I assume it was in a low golden light, hence the rich colour?

Dave

I like this type of shot I differ from most but to me this is full of action and details.

Great shot. Having it so big in the frame really adds impact as though he's about to land in your lap.

Certainly a cracker of a lovely bird - working hard with a local population myself at present but we just aren't having any light like this at all

Well this one is certainly nailed.... no bread in sight either

I'm a bit confused by your comment that AF tracking was great when only 2 out of 7 shots are in focus - surely AF tracking is hit and miss on such a poor hit rate

Hi Mike
The camera tracked the bird from distance until i hit the button-thats when it all went wrong, I get the feeling that the AF pulsates if that makes sense so that you get a good one a couple of bad ones and a good one, The camera is in for the fix today and i hope to have it back tomorrow so will put it back thru its paces asap, I do have a big list of Nikon gear ready to buy if the fix doesnt work
