A smaller Glory Hole waterfall that I have been trying to track down for two years now and finally found the location last month and then patiently waited for heavy rain. With Monday nights storm the area received over 2 inches of rain so I headed out yesterday morning to capture the falls. Unlike the other two this one is located just outside of St. Louis in the Salem Shelf of the upper Ozarks. I do not believe the falls have a name and are located well off the beaten path so I have no idea what to name the falls?

One neat feature of this fall is that it will dramatically change with different levels of water flow, I think I can pull off a much cleaner capture if the water flow was bit lower and the stream spread out of the hole would look more attractive and I could also include more of the den to the right because during high water the excess water runs of a ledge to the right which looked very unattractive in my frame.

Mark,

Not being familiar with the area or the feature, did you have to augment the lighting? I can't tell if it's all natural lighting, some reflected light, or if you might have added a bit of flash.

But, whatever the lighting, this is a really beautiful image - I'm quite jealous!

Thanks Tim!
The lighting is natural reflected light, the opening of the den is about 10ft behind me which was the main source for light. The right side of the image appears a tad darker because I had to use a 3 stop grad to prevent the waterfall from blowing out while at the same time having a long enough exposure to soak the light that was eliminating the den.

Congratulations on tracking down the waterfall, and nice capture. I bet a lot of folks would like to find out how to get to it; the Glory Hole here in Arkansas gets a bit crowded on nice spring days.

Thanks John...
I still need to capture the ones in Arkansas so I can complete the series, I have always been very intrigued with the Glory Hole Waterfalls and I am pretty stoked that I was able to come across one of them on this side of the Ozarks for once :)

Mark, nice composition and it really looks a lot like the one here in Arkansas. The leaves add a nice perspective to the shot.

Mark, good work with the grad filter, the water and back of the cave, nice lighting you were able to work with. Glad you were able to find this water fall in your area. Nice work and thanks for sharing!
