I've just booked a 8 night trip to Brazil - 4 nights in Rio at Copacabana beach, 2 nights in Manaus, and 2 nights at the Amazon Ecopark Jungle Lodge.

Any recommendations for tours to take, day trips, activities in Manaus or the Ecopark? I haven't done detailed research yet, but was wondering what to look for. A couple of hikes and canoe trips are prearranged at the Ecopark, but most of the time is free.

(And I tried searching on here some, but looking for "Amazon" doesn't get you any jungle info these days.)

This won't be a purely photo vacation, so just interesting place recommendations would be appreciated in addition to photo spots/tips.

Thanks a lot...

I would think the Jungle Lodge is in the thick of things and you would be surrounded by the jungle and things to do. 2 nights in Manaus is not much time. There are lots of tour companies in Manaus where you can sign up for trips, but they typically take 3 days. Just being in Manaus is quite interesting. Especially walking to the docking area along the river where all the river boats are loading and unloading, and the Opera house is a good visit. There are probably day trips available at the River docking area. Of course the market by the docks is a good visit. Tim

David,

It depends on how much time you have down there. I'm researching this area for a trip later this spring as well. If you could add on another week to ten days, there are some amazing places nearby. You could fly to Boa Vista, cross the border into Venezuela and climb Roraima, a huge table mountain that forms the border of Brazil/Venezuela/Guyana. Then take a river boat back to Manaus. Or you could head over to Sau Luis and visit Lencois Marenhenses, an amazing coastal dune national park. You could also fly from Sao Paulo to Chapada Diamantina or Foz de Iguazu for a few days. I've heard the coastline north of Rio is spectacular as well.

Unfortunately, Michael, the days I have there are about all I can do. I realize this is probably just a taste of Brazil, but I think Rio will be pretty amazing, and Manaus and The Eco lodge will be a pretty good taste of the Amazon.
