Cuckoo Wrasse
Arguably the UK's most colourful fish - a male of the species, the female being drab by comparison. Taken in Loch Nevis, W.Scotland last summer on one horrendously rainy, gloomy day at about 20m depth. There was hardly any ambient light, hence the background has gone black. Had to tweak the black in curves as the colours of the fish were reflecting into the surrounding water.
Canon 5D, 50mm Sigma, 100iso, 1/80 @ f11. Two Nikon flashguns. All on manual

Comes out very well with the black background. I think it is a very well done under the circumstances.

Amazing image Jim :toast:

The black BG makes it all look 'other worldly' which to a dedicated land-lubber like me, it is

Awesome shot :wavey:

Its so easy to overlook what we have at home isn't it, this looks positively tropical. I have seen them caught on rod and line, but it's not the same as seeing them in the water. Lovely shot.

Beautifully captured Jim, it looks great on the black background. As a nipper I caught many a Ballen Wrasse but I've never seen one of these so thanks for posting :toast: :toast:
