Got home from work today and there was still some light(dull grey)so I watched the garden for a while and this chap turned up.This is the first time I've managed a clean shot of him, would have prefered a perch but I have only seen him once on a perch and did'nt have the camera to hand

Nice one Stuart, Excellent shot. I wish I had one like it. It might not be on a perch, but it is in its natural habitat and exhibiting normal behaviour. Looks like it has been sorting out your ant problem for you! Eric

Great shot of a very camera shy species.

Thats where they sit most of the time, so its a clean shot in his natural habitat.
Well done!!

Hi Stu,
Cracking shot! I have always found these birds VERY jumpy and have had better luck nailing Jelly to the ceiling Lovely colours esp. the eye and razor sharp.
Nice work

Yeah we'd all like these to perch somewhere nice but they very infrequently do in my limited experience. Only seen these about 4 times ever and never got near a shot, and they've always been on the ground! I'd be happy with this
