My Tamrac Expedition 8 needs replacement, thinking of getting the same one but before i decide does anyone have any experience with Tenba? Any other recommendations? It needs to take at least 2 bodies, 500mm, extenders, wide angle, flash, and ofcourse needs to be taken onboard a plane!

Stuart,i think it could probably fit. I always transport the equipment in bits and pieces. In the expedition 8 i can fit the following :
2 Camera bodies
4/500 IS
16-35
2.0 and 1.4 converter
580 EX flash
Flashcord
WImberley flash bracket
Sony VAIO TZ
and small bits and pieces
I also have a storm case, which fits into a duffle bag. This will go into the haul and contains 70-200 2.8/300 and other bits and pieces.

Might be worth looking at the LowePro Vertex 300; I have a 200 which fits a Sig 500, plus spare body and a few lenses etc. Stu - the 200 is OK (just barely) for flight hand luggage, to give you an idea of size, and has a laptop pocket. The published specs were about right for size, but you have to squeeze the straps into the measuring contraption at airports, but it does fit when full, so I was very happy with it. AW too, which has helped save my kit from tropical downpours a couple of times.

The Vertex 300 is not legal for carry on it is too deep. I would recommend Think Tank. (Search for Think Tank Photographic Bags) They are stocked by Fixation and Jacobs (New Oxford Street Branch) I have an Airport Addicted (absolutely max carry on size) It will take a 500mm without body attached. Stocks are sometimes short

Only other make I can think of is Lowepro, but I guess you have already thought about and discounted those.

Lowepro Photo Trekker (II)? I use it and never had problems to take it with me as handluggage...

Use a LowePro phototrekker as my standard backpack. Will fit all you need, has a weatherproof cover, and is the maximum dimensions for in-cabin baggage allowance, plus has a lifetime warranty. My zip kinked when I over-packed it and they replaced the entire bag, new for old.
