Not posted for a while, due to work etc leading up to Christmas.
The subject has been heard and sometimes seen since the beginning of September. It is obviously an escapee and I wonder if it is wishing it was back in captivity considering the weather at the moment. Any chance of an ID please? Taken in Ashton-in-Makerfield, Wigan.

I'm pretty sure it's a paraqueet, and if this was taken in london there is a fair wild population springing up inthe parks.

I don't think it's a parakeet - looks like a parrot to me. Could be one the the Amazona goup perhaps?

I'd suggest a parrot too.
The image has a considerable green cast to it David - is your monitor calibrated?
Hello David
I think it could possible be a female green parakeet, and if so, might not be an escapee. I agree with Andy about the green cast, I hope you don't mind, but have attached an adjusted image which looks a bit nearer the mark on my monitors.
Best wishes

Much better Philip, thanks. For some reason the White balance setting in SPP3 had shifted to a green shade and in my rush to process the image at the time I hadn't noticed Your adjustments have much improved it, IMHO. .
My monitors (two Samsung SyncMaster 172T's) are not calibrated, Andy. I would appreciate
guidance on a good way of doing it.

strike 2 - probably another monitor thing, but Phil's looked too red...
Not a parakeet, much too big and bulky plus has the red wing flash - your first thoughts seem correct - an escape parrot of some description
