Matt and backing in Denver

Hey all,

Where would one go to purchase backing and matt board in Denver? I'm not at a stage yet where it makes sense to order large quantities online.

Another quick question. I read somewhere that using foamcore as backing in Colorado is a no-go as it will warp. What is the preferred substrate?

Thanks,
Alex

Hi Alex,
I have a frame shop in the Stapleton area and we do a lot of mats, backing and bags for artists that do bin work. I can get you the prices if you would like.

Foam core will warp anywhere due to humidity and temp changes. Dry mounting quite often causes even more warping. However, it generally is not a problem unless you're doing larger pieces. Warping also is not much of an issue once the art is in a frame.

Alex, can you email me your location and or phone number. I have a print I need to get mounted by Weds...approx 13x19.

Not sure about Denver, but you can get it delivered to your door from places like FrameDestination.com and AmericanFrame.com - especially if you don't need large quantities.

I've used foam core backing for years (ArtCare). Not one issue or complaint. As long as your frame has enough points holding the mat/print/backing, it will be fine (as Ron noted).

There are some great Art Supply stores in Denver, like Meiningers, Art Warehouse, Michaels
