In ES&S when I click on next phot, I get a blank black box. If I then click on Return to Index, I get a page of "Thumbnail Not Available"s.

I've had this problem for 2 days with IE and Firefox.

I get something similar Dan, and always have with links to a larger photo on a different site. In my case it's due to my slow dialup (would you believe 2.5k downloads on a rated 26k connection!). If I sit long enough the image will eventually open. That is, if I have something to do with my time for the next ten or fifteen minutes..... The standard 200k "NPN" image opens in two or three minutes. Wheee!

I have no clue what kind of connection you have, but if it's dialup, I have to wonder if large file sizes are the root issue?

Same problem here. I am on IE and a T-1 here at work. I'll check again on my DSL at home, but I think this is a coding issue at NPN and not a browser/connection speed issue.

Same problems here. The NPN server is also very slow right now... and it's NOT connection speed issue since multiple folks in different locations with different broadband connections are having the same issue (I'm on dsl.)

Also, it's not limited to ES&S, it's across all the galleries.

Hopefully Jim will see this soon - might need to reboot...

Jim is aware. I sent him an e-mail last night and it is on the NPN side. I'm glad he's smart enough to fix the problem. We take the operation of the site for granted sometimes so when it doesn't work 100% perfect its disconcerting. I know I am spoiled.

I'm experiencing problems with page 2 of the galleries not loading, along with the other problems mentioned in the previous posts.

I am also having a problem I'm getting C. Meads Woodpecker every time I press next or previous

Bill, thanks for notifying Jim regarding this...thought it was my PC giving me fits!

Page 2 problem here too, and I would assume it's all related?

This isn't new, as Dan noted, and in truth it never disappeared completely. I've seen this problem pop up sporadically for several weeks. Beginning last night (this is my first time checking the site since Sat. evening), the problem became chronic.

Welcome to my world!!!

Same problem here with DSL... I was about to post a question to see what the problem was. I'm sure Jim will get it fixed! :wavey:

Well, it's been one of those weeks. First my back-up server, a Dell PowerEdge located in my home, began experiencing problems and then quit completely a few days ago. I set up another back-up location with a buddy of mine in NH and had to download the entire website contents to his server. In the process, a few databases got knocked out of wack resulting in the problems seen over the last 24 hours or so. Dave has now fixed the databases so we should be back to normal.

Are we having fun yet?

Jim, thanks for all your effort. As someone above mentioned, we do tend to take things for granted

Thanks Jim! As Ed mentioned, we all take NPN for granted at times, but when a glitch strikes we realize just how much work behind the scenes it takes to keep things rolling smoothly along. Thanks to both you and Donna for your hard work!

It could be worse Cindy, imagine ending up at NSN after pressing the forward key...

Thanks, Jim...your hard work is much appreciated!

A re-write of the forum software, which will make it run more efficiently, is in the works for this year. Based on your input, I have created a list of improvements and added features as well.

Thanks to all for your patience!

Yes, I am seeing the problem this morning too

Same here, clicking to go to page two doesn't work (Wed in Australia)

I am having a different (I think) problem. When I read a topic and click the "Return to Index" link I get a page with no topics listed and just the header and formating present. Happens with Firefox, IE and Safari (on a PC) also happens on TPN.

Any Ideas?

Yes, more trouble today - will resolve ASAP.
