I am in the process of building a website for my photography.

Those of you that have your own site... do you put a digital copyright on the photos that are on your site?

What tips and tricks can you offer?

Kevin,

I put a copyright on each picture I post. After I found out how to do it, I added an EXIF to each file so that I have the copyright information there as well. If you use the EXIF function, do not save for WEB. The EXIF information is stripped off to save room. I haven't really checked that, but I have heard it from enough people that I believe it. The color scheme is also reduced to 256 colors (VGA color) also to save space. I also don't use a real big size for my pictures. irst it helps people like Hank who still are forced to use dial up. Second, the pictures aren't large enough to print very good any any type of enlargement. I hope this helps!

All images on the web should have your copyright watermark on them. You should also register your images with the Library of Congress. While these two things will not stop you from having an image stolen, they will enable you to prosecute the thief to the fullest extent of the law.
