Canon 1D Mark III
Canon 24-70mm f/2.8 L at 43mm
5.0 sec @ f/16 ISO 200

Some of you may recognize this tree in Kubota Garden as something I have photographed a few times. Yesterday of course it was in winter clothing, or maybe the absence there of!! For those who may not have seen this in the past here is a link:

Japanese Maple

So the new camera is really impressive!!! They have fixed many of the things on the Mark II that annoyed me and added a ton of stuff that has improved the usage of said camera. The "My Menu" is one of my favorite new tools. The "Live View" has proven to be much more useful than I had initially thought it would be. Being able to change the ISO as easily as the f-stop and shutter speed ROX!! Oh and the end result images are uh sweeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeet!!

Hi Rick,

This is perhaps one of the most beautiful photos I have seen on all of NPN. Stunning work. You have done your old friend proud.

Just so you folks know, the 1D Mark II was not something I wanted because it seemed so clumsy.I just wasn't interested. The upgrade is a bit lighter, they got rid of the clumsy handling with 2 buttons, and the added features in the menu, live monitoring and ability to view the histogram before you shoot. Way cool!
Now, with each added bit of info Rick feeds me, I'm drooling over the 1DMarkIII.
Perhaps I'll see one in next years stocking? Not sure, but it is sure a nice camera.

Kubota was pretty barren yesterday. After shooting there, we headed up to Magnolia bluff. Once I do some processing, I'll maybe post my view shots.
Nothing compared to the master here, but I need some advice on how to do the scene better. Catch ya later.

Rick, the comp is quite nice but honestly the colors are not working so well for me. Have you tried it in b&w, I would think that may work much better for this piece.
