The two are not really related other than both have a photography theme, both guys are from the Rogers area, and both are former students of mine who turned good.
The first is an opening reception for Master Photographer Bill Dark for his print exhibit at the Julie Wait Design Gallery in beautiful downtown Rogers - from 5-7:30pm this coming Friday, January 18th. His exhibit runs until leap year. (I'm not sure that I taught him much but I sure did sell him a great printer!)
The second is a classical music concert given by Atticus Mulkey and his fellow musicians, who call themselves "triPod" (named because of the photography influence from boy genuis Atticus) - piano, violin, and violin. The concert is this Sunday, January 20th at 2pm, Stella Boyle Smith Concert Hall at the University of Arkansas.
Bill congrats on the gallery exhibit. I want to come see your exhibit some time. Good luck, I hope you sell alot of prints.

Hey, congratulations on the exhibit Bill - I bet it's great!

Thanks, guys! I don't know if I qualify for the "Master" title, but whatever kind of nature photographer I have become is the result of learning from many people, mostly Tim Ernst. I started admiring his outdoor photography in books many years ago. So it is quite an honor to be addressed as a Master Photographer by someone that has accomplished as much as Tim has.
While most of you live too far away to attend the reception, if you are in the area I would love for you to drop in for a toast.
BTW, I used to play violin too...I'll have to go hear Atticus and the other musicians Sunday.
Just one more thing Tim - could you email me a receipt for the printer? I'm not sure if IRS will accept a cancelled check...

Congrats Bill! Before we know it you'll be rich and famous like Tim Ernst! All the best on the exhibit, hope you sell lots!

Hey, Bill I may try to stop by for the reception on Friday. Congratulations!
Hey Bill, was Atticus one of your students? He came to one of my workshops when he was still in high school - it was obvious he was a boy genius at that time, and now just barely in college he has his own classical musical group and plays concerts in fine art concert halls. He is a very talented kid for sure. I don't recall the details of your printer sale but if you will send me an e-mail I can look it all up and reply with a receipt (you don't need one for the IRS return, and actually the cancelled check is better - that is what they will want to see if you get audited, but no problem getting one to you).
Wayne - you are correct that I am getting pretty famous - all the squirrels in my yard know my name, but that is about as far and wide as my fame spreads! And any riches I collect I usually pass on to fellow photographers here in the form of really good deals on printers and camera equipment, right - Tim, Bill, Glenn, Mark, David, Ray, Tom, Larry....
By the way, speaking of printers, for anyone going to my workshops this year we not only will have both Nikon and Canon cameras for you to use (actually only one of each) - so if you are looking at the other brand you will get a chance to shoot with one - and for the workshops that we have here at the new gallery we will have no less than FIVE fine art printers for you to play with and print on, including ones from HP (2), Canon, and Epson (2) - that means I will have to stock 46 DIFFERENT ink carts! It is going to be a fun spring workshop season here for sure...

Tim - I didn't have Atticus in any classes, but it would have been a pleasure, I'm sure.
I really should mention that Rogers has quite a few accomplished performing artists. Another recent grad, 18 year-old Kory Montgomery opens for BB KING in Eureka January 27th. Tickets are $116.50! Another former student now performs on Broadway. The younger generation continues to amaze me with what they can do. And the AP Art Studio students...you wouldn't believe the quality work coming from them...

Bill,
Congrats on the exhibit Bill. I've admired your work for the past two years, ever since our chance meeting at Twin Falls on Richland Creek.
If you're cooking at the exhibit I would make the trip but something tells me a campfire in a fine art gallery wouldn't be allowed!
Hope you have a great time.
