Keep in mind that it is currently under construction (sorta). I have the framework done... .Im just adding photos now. I currently have photos in the Butterflies and Fall Colors Gallery.

Check it out and let me know what you think. If there is anything that needs to be changed to make it better... it would be easier to do now as compaired to when I get all pages uploaded.

Thanks and I look forward to your input.

www.kbnaturephotography.com >>> then go to the lower left corner for an invisible link to let you in.

The outline seems pretty decent. Thumbnails are bright and clear, and the gallery page loads fairly quickly even on dialup.

Depending on your file conventions, I might change some of the image names for the website. 07.08.flwnc.016 is not especially buyer friendly (was this a butterfly image I bookmarked, or a flower, or something else?) plus it leaves a lot of chances for typos. More of a personal preference, I'll admit.

Also, on the purchase prints section, I thought I saw "coming" as "comming".

I'd try to get site public as soon as possible. A couple of reasons. First, you have that hidden link. Google and the other search engines really frown on people doing that, since it has been really abused in the past. You don't want to be building up from a low penalized ranking right from the start. Second, you had a website in the past that hopefully people used before. A good business continuity will look a lot better. Last, there are some interesting thumbnails I'd like to see larger images of :biggrin: . Even just placing and under construction note and *regularly* finishing the pieces will help.

Last, you may want to consider a PayPal payment option for internet orders. If you go that route, set up a second banking account separate from your personal and business accounts. If something should go wrong there, the losses will be minimal rather than personally catastrosphic.

Don't forget to change your NPN www link for the new address, along with informing other users/linkers/website of the change.

Once you get more of the site finished, let us know.

Cool layout. A suggestion, really a variation on Dan's: when you place an order, you should use a Javascript call to place the long file name into the order form, rather than making the user try to remember it, or remember to copy it.

Thanks for catching the typo... .that has been changed

For the file names.... that is the best way I have found to name and cateorgrize my files.

07.08.flwnc.016

07 = year
08 = month
flwnc = location (Forrest L Wood Nature Center)
016 = file number.

This way I can do a search for a particular year, month, or location. So if I want to pitch a proposal to one of our local State Parks or Nature Centers I can just do a search for their location and I have all the photos that I took there. Plus I dont have to remeber how many other Gulf Fritilary photos I already have to keep from duplicating a name. There is no way to duplicate a name with this system. I am using software to categorize them if I want to find just butterflies or specific butterflies.

The hidden link is temporary. I have only had the domain for 3 days now... and I did it so friends could see how it is coming along. I understand what you were saying and will try and get it up ASAP.... That was why I put "Coming Soon" on that page. So people would know it was currently under construction. Which photo were you interested in seeing?

I already have a paypal account... but I see your point... I may have to change where it is directed.

What new address for NPN?

"you should use a call to place the long file name into the order form,"

How do I do that? This is the first Ive heard of that.

When you click on your web logo (WWW) on NPN it comes up not found.

I was interested in the snakes, insects, and other creepy crawlies. It is what I specialize in so it is more of professional curiousity than anything else.

I'll have to admit that from the point of view of a print buyer, these are probably the last images to put up. I *STILL* shake my head over the person who bought an 11x14 of a half frame jumping spider. I doubt I will ever get another print sale like that.

If you can figure out the call to put the long file name in the order box, I'd happy withdraw my objection regarding that. Don't ask me how to do that - I haven't a clue.

I understand your reasoning on the file names. My personal system is very similar. What I do is maintain a separate folder for specifically for print versions with an easier filenaming convention for the print sales. So I have two sets of files - one for my personal work and stock sales and has everything in it and a second, smaller, somewhat duplicated set of files specifically for print sales. Which is better, I don't know, but having the order box automatically pick up the print name solves this.

Good luck with the web work. You have a good start.

"When you click on your web logo (WWW) on NPN it comes up not found. "

gotcha.... that is fixed now. It points to where it should.
