I'm always a big fan of these little "icons" or signatures or whatever you all call it. These little images going along with your posts.(I rank Pete D's first, but there are many good ones...)
What I wonder: has nobody ever thought of renting this little place out? Put some ad's in there. You know, just the logos. (sure there could be some text going along, as many of you do have anyway. Coca Cola maybe? There must be some $$ to be made, eh?
One of the things I really appreciate about NPN is the lack of ads! I feel that use of the avatar/signature space for ads would be inappropriate and very distracting.
Georg, Actually, from a marketing viewpoint, I think that's an idea...and since I noticed that you don't have a signature line, you can start using my very own signature line that points to my website!
Okay, I jest (unless you really want to post my website address!), but you have an idea. Thing is, if photographers on here want to push people AWAY from their own website/photos/business, then they should show someone else's ads. But, if you want to get business (from, let's say any photo editor who might be looking around on this site, etc.) from your photography, not such a hot idea.

Please -no advertising with sigs or avatars! It may be good marketing, but it is still an idea most of us don't want. Sorry!
On lots of non-photog boards posters are now putting support messages for candidates in their signature lines. I think I'm going to puke. That or unplug completely from the net. At least with snail mail the junksters have to spend a little more money to reach me. Great fire starter for the woodstove, too. At least there I get something.
Keep cool fellas, I WAS actually just joking! (I hoped for responses like the one from Nancy) I was to say how I really enjoy looking at some of these little billboards, as this is what they actually ARE. (just on a personal, not annoying basis. - some do mention their workshops or boost their websites etc, after all! which is perfectly fine with me, don't get me wrong!) I was just wondering what happens, if sy came up with the (f.e.) the nike logo and the slogan "just do it"... (not that I would like it...)
sorry, sorry it's partly a language problem, I guess.

(also I forgot that most of you (us citizens) are "a little" fed up with election propagandas at the moment, forgive me!)

You're forgiven, Georg...just don't scare us like that again!
I recognized that you were kidding Georg, but I'm not. I'm so sick of ads creaping into our lives that I'm sure I'm getting a little irrational about it. Write it off to the red head and highly independent nature. Point me to the nearest wall so I can resume beating my head.
Georg, No need to apologize for a language problem - it was obvious to anyone who didn't jump first before reading that you were joking (I think that's what the little devilish grinning icon was for, right?!!!!). I'm just glad you caught my sarcasm and own sense of humor - this was fun...so thanks! :)
Oh AND one more thing...I had to laugh at all the responses, except for Hank's, because every single one of them had a tagline advertising their own website/photography business, etc. I felt like that was a little like the kettle calling itself black!
