I recently purchased a Nikon D300. I wasn't planning on bringing it to the shindig tonight, but if anyone is considering buying one and wants to see one in person first, I can bring it along with me. Let me know.
Just got mine.....it's too nice to take outside. Congrats!

Congratulations Brent and Dave!! Guess I know what I'll be spending my $800 rebate check on. So, how do you guys like the D300? Did you guys order it online? How does it compare with the D200?
I bought mine at Hunt's and asked for free shipping because I'm a NANPA member. Although I paid retail, I didn't have to pay the local tax. I also bought the D300 "L" bracket from Kirk. I think I'll like it; but as I said, it's just too pretty to take outdoors. I am planning to sell my D200 while I can get a decent price on Ebay.
Good Luck!

I love it. Haven't shot much with it yet. Just got it a few weeks ago, and we've been pretty busy. I've used it for Christmas snapshots and then took some photos of a building I designed up in Wyoming. I really need to get out and do some real shooting soon.
I bought mine from Wolf, because I just couldn't wait for delivery from B&H. Bought it at the Wolf in downtown Denver. It was the same price I could get anywhere else, but I had to pay sales tax. That jacked the price up a bit.
I bought the RRS L-bracket for it, and it's a really nicely machined piece of equipment. I'm very impressed. I also just got the Tokina 12-24 lens, and am very happy. The only problem with that combo is that due to the very wide angle, the lens casts a shadow from the built-in flash. But once I pop a real flash onto the hotshoe, the problem goes away, so I don't consider that to be a big deal.
This was actually my first foray into DSLR-world. I just made the jump from a Nikon F4 to the D300, so I can't really compare it to the D200. From reading reviews, I don't know that I would have gotten the D300 if I already had the D200. But given the choice of going from 35mm film to a D300 or saving a couple hundred and getting the D200, the D300 was the easy choice.
A side note: The D300 has a Live View mode, but I haven't really gotten the hang of it. It's kind of a pain to use, but maybe I'll get used to it. For now, I avoid Live View and just use the regular viewfinder.

When you guys get a chance to do some shooting with it, I'd be really interested in seeing some pics.
