I was tracking a family of long-tailed tits when this appeared amongst them. I have only ever seen one before, and this didn't have the gold crest. My book says juvenile's don't, so I presume this is one. I would have preferred a different background, but only managed 3 frames in about 10 seconds. Made my day!

Yep - goldcrest it is Ian
They are quite often seen alongside LTT's, not quite sure why this is, perhaps they have some sort of symbiotic thing going on
Well done for getting a capture

Look slike one to me too Ian, unless it's a chaffinch that's hit a window at high speed!!!! In my experience, you can't be too choosy with these as to what BGs you get, you just got to take what you can...I have blurred ones, so you're certainly up on me!!!

I'd go for the Goldcrest. Of course it could be a Firecrest. In any event they are very tiny birds, very active and one hell of a job to capture satisfactorily on camera. Bet you can't repeat it

Anybody noticed just how many of these there are about these days. Around here it is very common to see them with flocks of mixed tits (?) and the odd treecreeper tagging along. It is not so common to get one on film, though so a big well done from a jealous photographer.
Eric.

Hi Ian,
A bird I've yet to photograph , not through want of trying may I add so a good capture IMO.

Ian/Paul - not a Firecrest by any stretch of the imagination
The subject is a fairly uniform colour top and bottom - Firecrest is noticably greener on top and paler underneath and has quite a broad white stripe above its eye.

Hi Ian,
Nice shot, of a nice bird. The background isn't that busy so it doesn't really spoil this shot (especially as you only had a ten second window).
It certainly looks like a Goldcrest to me.
