After seeing the magnificent shot John posted a while back, I knew I had to photograph this place. It took three trips before I was satisfied, and will be going back again soon, no doubt.
D2x
12-24mm
Blend of three images; two back-to-back for the sky and fg, and one for the moon a couple of hours later.

Fantastic! The composition and colors are marvelous, and you did an expert job blending. I looked at this photo for several minutes before I scrolled down and read that this was a blend. I knew it had to be, but I couldn't see any evidence in the photo.
I'm planning on returning to that bluff the next time it snows. Lots of possibilities there.
Great job Bill!

Thanks, John. Now that I think about it, this is a blend of three exposures. Two back-to-back for the sky and fg, and one two hours later for the moon.
Be careful in the snow...one slip could be a disaster!
Bill great job on the sunset image and the blending of these. Grreat job on the forground. I'm not sure it needs the moon?

Wonderful vision and technical execution Bill. You have been rewarded with an image I'm sure you will sell many times over! Great shot!

Bill, I saw this great shot when you posted earlier in the ES & S forum and I was wondering about you blending technique, I think you answered it above. Thanks for sharing it is truly a great shot!

Very beautiful, with or without the moon. Well worth the time and effort.

Great shot, Bill! Several of the monitors I've seen this on showed the bottom to be pretty dark, but on this monitor I can finally see the detail that you've captured there. Would love to see the print sometime!

Thanks for the compliments! This is such a beautiful spot, but very cold when the wind is gusting this time of year. When I get my profile back, I'll see what I can do about a print, Tim. Looks like a good test for that new baryta matte. I'm hoping the detail in the shadows will print better than on the IJAMC luster.
