Hi,

I`m going to Scotland for 5 days in less than 3 weeks time and wondered if anyone has been to Glen Garry area for deer RECENTLY, its on my list of places to go while I`m there.
I was interested if anyone had any up to date info on the Deer situation there and is the road clear :wavey:

PM me if you prefer.

Thanks Craig,

Thats a great help as I`ve got to go on the A82 anyway, I stay in my Friends holiday home ( Lucky Sod) in Ballachulish, near Glencoe.

So I can keep track on the road conditions nearer to the time.

Cheers

Hi Brian,

As you climb on to Rannoch Moor, round the sweeping bends overlooking Glen Orchy, there's a layby usually occupied with butty wagon and tourists. The last few times I've been over there, there have been some very tame deer here, allowing for wide angle shots with Scottish landscape in the bg. Map here: http://streetmap.co.uk/newmap.srf?x=230840&y=745220&z=5&sv=230840,745220&st=4&ar=Y&mapp=newmap.srf&searchp=newsearch.srf&ax=230840&ay=745220

Not the wilderness/peaceful experience that's good for the soul, but a good chance to get saleable images!!

Can't help with Glen Garry I'm afraid. :frown:

Dont know about this year but i was up there last feb when it was snowing and had a great time.Best place is after the dam/hydro plant . Also saw a couple of black wild goats .(i think they were goats ) i only used my 28-135 as they were really close to the car.A local told me it was best to see the deer in the afternoon . They are on the tops during the day but as the temperature drops they come down from the hills ,but i saw them allday. Also got some nice views of the black grouse in the evening roosting in some pines near the road. Good luck.
Matt.
