You "locals" might be interested to know that photographer Jim Richardson, who lives in Lindsborg, Kansas will be honored as Kansan of the Year by the Native Sons & Daughters of Kansas this week. He has been a photographer with NatGeo since 1984. He has featured Kansas several times in NatGeo, most recently with his documentary photography of the residents of Cuba, Kansas and his April 2007 22-page spread featuring the beautiful Flint Hills. Large scale versions of his Flint Hills photos are currently part of a traveling exhibit sponsored by NatGeo, Epson and the Kansas Div. of Travel & Tourism.
I think it's pretty cool a photographer snagged the honor this year, instead of a business man or politician.

An impressive distinction and indicative of his long and accomplished career. Kudos to Jim! Thanks for mentioning it Angela.

Thanks for the heads up. His work is amazing. I saw him in November in Wichita, and really enjoyed the talk he gave that morning. The traveling exhibit was very impressive.
