Taken about this time last year, one of the few insects about this time of year. Generally quite an obliging species, especially when in coupula. Not everybody's first choice of subject matter, however.
It may be my monitor, but the flies look fine. Original scan just resized, and slight usm and levels (Photoshop 4). The dung (it's not soil) is rather magenter-ish, but then dung sometimes is (this perhaps enhanced by the Velvia 100). Does this explain it? I have images with the dung the same colour, with grass in, and the grass is still green.
I see what you mean. I'll have to go back and check the original slide, which I haven't looked at since taking the pic (and probably didn't refer to when processing the scan). Thanks for pointing this out. Now I'm gonna have to learn how to adjust the colours though!
Feeling embarrassed,
Greg

Not sure what you did your editing on Greg but there seems to be a massive shift towards Magenta with this one I'm afraid
Barrie
As Barrie pointed out though, can't say the same for the colour
