I took this photo Sunday morning, at sunrise. Pillsbury Crossing is located a few miles south of Manhattan, KS, and is a natural river crossing. Upstream, the creek was frozen solid, but it was in a semi-frozen state from the crossing to the falls. The water running through here is only a couple inches deep in most places. I converted to b/w since the colors weren't that great. 30D, 70mm, ISO 100, 1.3s, f/11, slight crop. C&C/suggestions always welcome and appreciated.

Awesome detail and contrast Rob! Textures, tones and just a fantastic shot all around!

This is really nice, Rob. Perfect shutter speed, and great conversion to b&w. If this were mine, I'd probably think about croppping the vegetation at the top. Either way, I think this is very nice.
UPDATE: After seeing this on a good monitor, I think the grasses in the bg look much better. Guess I should have looked on a better monitor to start with...great shot!

Thanks guys. Here is a cropped version without the grasses, while maintaining the same ratio for comparison.

Rob,
I agree with Bill (after a second look) that the vegetation does add to the depth of the photograph. jmtc (just my two cents) but the foreground of the slab could be cropped to bring us closer to the "action" of the falling water. Either way you have a very solid exposure.

Rob, nice b/w conversion. Before I saw your second version, I opened your photo on my computer and played around with the cropping and found I preferred it cropped pretty much how you have it in your second version. It's a wonderful winter image.
