I've passed this beautiful old cottonwood more times than I can count and always thought it would make a nice portrait. Yesterday I finally decided to photograph it. I knew from experience that cloudy skies around Moab usually result in a subtle glow on the landscape after sunset. So, I stopped off here after photographing sunset on Castleton Tower and was not disappointed.

Hi Brett,
Great shot, feels a lot like scenery around 128 coming into Moab. My only suggestion is I really want to see the top of the cottonwood - maybe less of the bushes (but still have them) and all of the tree?
Love that glow on those red rocks

Interesting, a 13 sec exposure--wow! I love the subtle colors and the tree is obviously quite cool. Im finding it pretty hard for my eyes to differentiate between the branches and the complex bg, but this is probably partly a function of the small image size.

This is a nice shot Brett. Lovely palette and nice form to the tree.

I think I want to see this bigger!

At this scale, the tree just blends into the background rocks in the upper left.
Other than that, I really like the textures and color.

I agree about the tree blending in at this size. It stands out much better at full resolution. If only we could post BIG...

Definitely a worthy subject with a nice backdrop. As mentioned earlier, it does seem a little cramped up top. I'd like to see a little more room up there.
