Nick, Phil ammend this post to add others thoughts as you see fit
1) How would you improve the how the UKNP forum operates? e.g. Would you prefer a seperate page for Items FS/WTB instead of these showing on the forum?
2) What else could UKNP do to improve your photography?
3) What additional features would you like to see, other than the forum.
4) If UKNP could attract sponsership (not on the forum page but the others) would this bother you - the money would be used to offset the conference.

A page detailing the processing requirements / tute's to achieve tings like sharpening borders copyrights etc.etc.
Ok, some of them are old, but in general the things they run through are still valid in PS etc.
If you let us know particular things that are missing, then we might be able to ruffle someone into doing an article or two .

Hi Tom
1) Don't see the point to be honest - FS/WTB posts don't bother me in the slightest - in fact they are always worth a read - leave them where they are for me
2) Other than send you and Danny to take me piks I don't really know that the forum could do any more to be honest. Because it is such a damn fine forum you learn so much anyway.
Tutes and such would just waste server space because all you'd be doing is duplicating what's already available.
Mind you, making the posting of techs a necessity might help from both a learning and a critique PoV.
3)Like what - a Chat Room - God help us all, that would be laugh
4) As long as animated banners and damned 'pop-ups and pop-behinds' were not involved the Go For It - grists to the mill and all that
I like the format Tom and so I don't think any changes are needed - apart from a better server, if you need a really reliable farm you could always try my mate Brad Jorgenson at http://www.hosthead.com - I've been a customer of his company for 6 years now and can highly recommend them as 'cast iron servers'.

On the old UKNP forum, we had a thread about locations, where members could post a quick guide to 'their patch'. I found this really useful, and it was a great resource. I for one would be happy to contribute to it if it were to be started up again.

Ditto Petes offering above.

Not sure if you wanted us to think and tell you at the conference, but the only thing i'd like (for containing things like Pete's suggestion) would be a NPN/UKNP only area or marker for threads which we dont want all and sundry to see. Like where you have seen XYZ

Not having seen the older style forum Petes suggestion sounds very good and I too would be happy to contribute something on the sites I use that few folk know of.
Pauls suggestion is very laudable indeed (you can't be too careful) but might it not be simpler and easier from the site admin PoV to just use the existing PM system. Perhaps it could be augmented by an icon or suchlike in either the posting members profile or on the topic itself to indicate whether or not the poster is willing to share the 'sensitive' info in question.
Just a thought

As a relative newcomer to this site and as a user of other forums not related to photography can I say that I like it as it is. There is just enough chat to make it interesting, but the focus remains on being a better photographer and that is all I want from it.
If I have one slight niggle it is the problem I keep having with the index, that I e-mailed you about recently. It has been fixed twice and now it is happening again and although it doesn't make the forum impossible to use, it is very frustrating. I don't know if changing the server as suggested by AA would help, but if it would, I would vote for it.I'm not a big fan of giving away locations and feel that unless they are already well-known, they are best shared with those you trust privately.

Good points. But I wouldnt want this to become a bit 'cliquey' if it was done via PM, IYSWIM.
Personally, I think this place is fine as it is, but appreciate that sometimes change is necessary!

There're already a number available in the NPN archives, see Digital Photography Articles and Tutorials.
