So as most folks probably know, there were alot of forests taht were burned in the past months around Los Angeles. I'd like to take some weekends later this and next month to photograph some of the burnt out forests. I don't quite know where to go though, anyone know some areas that would have some burned out trees/logs? Hoping that maybe after all this rain, next month there will be some fresh growth around the burned trees, that would probably make for some good photographs.
Daniel: considering that millions of acres have burned over the last few years, finding what you seek is not going to be hard :) I'd suggest checking the USFS regional and local websites for burn maps, as well as INCIWEB. You could also google something like 'southern california wildfires'. note the names they assigned to the fires, and then do further research from there.
There is absolutely no shortage of burned forest here. I'll give you one tip: Day Fire (remember that one (just over one year ago)? Huuuuge. Los Padres NF. Good luck.
