I have to say, Canon HAS THE BEST SERVICE available! Two years ago I dropped my TS-E 24mm and broke the mount. I wrote them a note and in 10 days I received my repaired lens and a note stating that they fixed it under warranty!

I bought a G9 3-weeks ago and dropped it. Broke the lens but did put a scratch on it anywhere else. I sent it in to Canon repair by FedEx and they received it on a Friday afternoon. Monday morning I received an email with the charges, $138.00 including shipping. I payed for it and by Wednesday afternoon I had my camera back in my hands. They repaired the camera on Monday and it was shipped monday afternoon! They had the camera one day, excluding the weekend!

I'll never own another camera from a different company! :toast:

man that's fast. Are you signed up w/ their pro services program? I have a friend that is in that program and says she gets faster service that way than before she was in it.

No, not at this moment. The service program that I've used is the standard service for all! They are just that good! :toast:

I'll second that! When I switched to Canon their service Technician registered all my gear by serial # etc. He couldn't do enough to answer any questions I had . Great company.

Yeah, yeah, yeah... You just read my letter about Nikon's slow service and had to rub it in didn't you Greer?!?!? Maybe Ole Nasty Canon is just faster because they get a lot more practice fixing their "fragile as china" stuff.   Just last week, my anvil broke and I used one of my old F4's as a replacement for it. You don't need fast repair service when your stuff don't break to begin with! :jump:  The gauntlet has been thrown down...

I'm with you ,Bill. I've never needed Nikon service, sort of like the Maytag repairman.

Good thing you didn't have a 1D Mark III.

It's been a known problem for years that Nikon service/attitude sucks with all customers, including the pros. Just ask the MacDonalds, they used to use Nikon until a blunder! Now they use Canon.

As for my problems with Canon, I've NEVER had a breakdown that wasn't my fault. I started using Canon in 1981. Again, the only time that I've needed them was when I drank too much "porter" (I wrote this in the explaination when I sent the 24 back) and dropped my 24 in the parking lot on Ocracoke Island and then the G9 was just another stupid move.

BTW, not one of my Canon cameras or the lenses are made in China, all Japan!

So, why did you have to send your Nikon TC back for service if it never breaks? You been drinking to much too? !

Well, I don't know about the MacDonald's, but BK and Wendy's still use Nikon!

Besides, I never drink too much, always just the "right" amount for the desired purpose. Sometimes my purpose might get skewed a bit, but I can live with that. And, I never said my TC broke; I was just sending it in so Nikon could get a littlle.... practice, yeah, that's it.
