Well, as most would understand the weather was not real conducive at times during these dates especially for Whitney and Lone Pine Peak shots. However, Saturday was a different story. Cory Freeman came down from Bishop for the day and brought some very fine weather with him and a real nice sunrise too. I'm sure Cory will have some items to post much quicker then I will as I wait film processing.
If anyone else made it to the area and we missed you, I apologize for that, as my cell was intermittent throughout the area as usual. But, I'm sure you would have had a good outing on Saturday as well in that general area.

oh wow Paul, you made it back fast. sounds like you got at least one good day of shooting in.

how often do you go up to the east side?

Dang! You got home fast. You must've left early this morning huh?

As Paul mentioned it was fabulous weather. Today is probably very windy as we're getting gusts of 20-40mph here in Bishop. Thanks for showing me around yesterday Paul. I had a great time and managed to get some "keepers". I am now behind in my processing!

Paul is truelly the master at spotting barrel cacti. I managed to walk past several without evening seeing them. Of course when I asked if he had found any near by, he pointed out the ones within 20 ft of us that I walked past!!

I did manage to have a little drama late in the day. I had a brain fart and while perched on a granite boulder ten feet above a stream bed, I pushed the quick release button on the tripod hd. Guess what happened next? Yep, out popped the camera, promplty doing a summersault in mid air with the face of the lens head straight for the course granite perch I was on, and then to the streambed, I'm sure. I was some how able to react quickly enough to clutch at the cable release in time to cushion the impact of the lens with the granite and prevent it from damage or following to the stream bed below. Not sure how I was able to do that 'cause I'm sure my heart stopped beating for the whole episode! Seems I was able to prevent any damage as only a small ding and little grain of granite is now embedded in the lens cap that was on. Hopefully the IS still works ok. I haven't cheked yet.

I sure could've done without that little melodrama.

Great trip!

Cory & Richard, I did leave the area very early this morning as the predicted weather for the day was to be more of the same washout. I waited to see how the sky would look at around 0630 and by then I could tell things were not looking good at all.

Richard, I more then likely will not venture back up to the east side until possibly spring for wildflowers  as a result of this fine winter offering of wet weather.

Cory, I was glad you could make the trip and very thankful both your camera and vehicle survived the outing intact.
