I just got back from winter camping. The plan was originally to camp at lower Mohawk Lake, but the trail hadn't been broken in a while and there was alot of avalanche exposure from the cabin to the tram. With both those factors, I decided the shot I had in mind would have to wait and camped at the less scenic Mayflower lake.
This shot is from Hoosier Pass on the way to the trailhead. It is Lincoln and Bross. I have some better shots on 4X5 (I think) but will have to wait until Tuesday.

Next is a shot from our campsite. My dad went up with me. Without his help carrying tent and stove, I'd never have been able to haul the 4X5 up there. I was glad I didn't weigh my pack before the trip. I told my self it was just 45 pounds or so. I decided to check it before I started unpacking. 65 pounds!
For this shot I had my dad illuminate the tent walls with our LED headlamps. This is a 25 or 30 second shot.

Finally, sunrise this morning shot towards an unnamed ridge.
These are all straight out of the camera jpegs. I'll have some more finished shots in the near future including some shots of Mt Helen.

Great stuff, Mel! That 4x5 weight sneaks up on you, huh? You definately get more aware of the weight of each item you carry.
Hope you got some good LF shots!

Really like that first one Mel. Looks cold and windy. Also, I like the moon in the generally blank sky. For me the mystery is in the spaces.

Mel, I'm a sucker for the windy, stormy, blowing snow shots and that first one is fantastic. Have you tried a B&W conversion? I'll bet it would really pop. Nice job.

Very nice shots Mel. I really like first one the most, although I also like the lighted tent in the second one. Thanks for sharing.
Looks like a lovely trip. Those are really nice jpegs, I hope your 4X5s are as good.

where exactly is Mayflower lake
Posted by Mel Ladewig on January 28, 2008 at 6:06 PM
Its in the ten mile range, a little ways south of Breckenridge.
The lake is probably less well know than the Mohawk Lakes in the hanging valley above.
After a little processing, I've got these shots looking even better. I'm going to wait until I get my 4X5 shots back tomorrow afternoon before posting anything else though.
