[edit: Reduced lighted the sky in the ulhc]
Sorry for the cheesy title, I suck at creating titles!
As Paul already mentioned, I met him yesterday morning at Movie Rd. around 6:30am. Wanting to get early light on LP pk we split up and I found this location to shoot from. While early morning light really wasn't all that great, too many clouds to the east, I managed to get this spot light effect on the mg rock formation. I was very happy about that. Overall I very pleased with this image.
We had great weather, i.e. no wind to speak of and early morning temps were in the high twenties, low thirties. It wasn't long after shooting this image that the clouds started moving in on LP pk and Whitney. Classic eastern sierra weather and colors. It was a very good day!!
Comments and or suggestions always appreciated.

I now see the angle of view you were working on when we talked first thing Saturday morning, Cory. I did not realize you had worked in to a position to capture the Whitney Peak too. This scene really gives some contrasting looks of the overall area with the snow covered FG sage along with the brown tones in the AH's at mid ground and then on to the obviously well blanketed snow covered Sierras. The entire scene has some nice contrasts throughout including the blue sky with the 3/4 moon. A very impressive first image with more to come I'm sure.
Very nice, Cory. It has that signature look of the area. Having spent lots of time there, I, too know how fast the lighting/cloudage changes in the wintertime. You had it right by making this capture and not waiting for 'better', because often the moment you see anything you like, it may be the best you'll get for a while. Good work.

Thanks for leaving a comment guys.
@Paul: Orignially I wasn't really trying to get Whitney in any of my shots w/ LP pk. but it just worked out that way with this lighting and particular location. You know how that goes! I have another shot of this that excludes LP pk and includes more to the right. I'm hoping to stitch the two together to get the best of both shots.

Cory,
Great shot. The moon really pulls this together for me. I think the "gold in them thar hills" makes for a good theme with that light.
Looks like the snow was quite beautiful that day. Can't wait to see some more images from you and Paul. Wish I could have been there.
Nice shot, as it has been said, the moon and the snow finish it off nicely.

Thanks Lon & Enrique!
Lon: You're probably headed for Yosemite, huh? I'm sure it's got some nice snow now. I hear there's another storm headed for the sierra this coming weekend too. Hopefully you can make it over the hill sometime soon!

Cory,
Actually, I've been there twice in the last week! :-) The first visit was rather dull and gray, but on Friday I happened to catch it just right. Had the entire morning of snow covered trees. Then in typical fashion, snow started dropping from the trees quickly as the day grew long. I hope to have the film back and some images within a week (sounds like an eternity, but I'm used to it.)
