I had an afternoon out in the woods to day, and this very good looking chap turned up just as the light was about to go...

Maybe me but it looks a bit over saturated, the reds could do with toning down a wee bit.
Very easy to get caried away as they are a very colourfull bird.Looks sharp enough though and I do like a pheasant

Nice capture Stewart :toast:

Couple of nits - comp-wise a bit tight at the tail and perhaps the feet too, and the subject brightness range has exceeded the dynamic range of the camera - hard on a D2Xs but not impossible as you've proved with the 'blown' neck band.

Have a play with the exposure comp slider in your raw converter - if you can get detail in the neck band by adding -EV then you could try doing 2 raw conversions, one normal and one at - EV, then open both conversions in PS and paste the normal one on top of the under exposed one, then use an eraser on the neck band in your top layer to reveal the detail in the lower layer.

Just a thought :wavey:

Hi Stewart,

Agree with other nits. It's shoots traditional cock days this week so he has until close of play on friday 1st to keep his head down

Regards
