I've been wanting to try this shot for a while. I stiched about 20 images together for this shot. Stitching was the only way for me to capture all the twists and turns of the Goosenecks of the San Juan as seen from the main viewpoint. I think the snow actually detracts from the shot a bit and it would have been nice to have dramatic storm clouds in the distance. But I at least got something close to what I imagined.

WOW this is really awesome, Grant! I like the snow; it contrasts nicely with the warm red and orange colors.

the hues complement each other well, making the orange really pop, nice job!

Very cool, Grant. I really like the snow too. I think it makes for good contrast with the rocks.

Nice stitch, Grant. I've stopped there about a half dozen times and still haven't found any decent light.
That foreground ledge doesn't help the composition either. I really hate having those meanders truncated.
Maybe next time we need to bring a REALLY tall ladder ? I'll hold it for you.

Wow...20 images. Holy megapixels! This is a really tough location to shoot. Its seems that overcast or twilight conditions are the only options here. I've also climbed down to the lowest ridge line possible and still you can't get those darned goosenecks in their entirety.I think you did pretty well here. The only thing I might have done differently is line up the point in the foreground right between the goosenecks. That way the sloping foreground would parallel the goosenecks even more.

Hey Grant, all you need to do is tie yourself and tripod to the railing and lean way out over the cliff!
Only nit is that the orange in the foreground looks too saturated for my tastes.
Great job!

Awesome. Definitely more interesting with the snow, I would imagine. I like it a lot.

I love the Goosenecks! Been there many times, but no matter what time of year, I've never caught any interesting weather. The best I got was a flyby of a couple of B1 bombers. The snow really adds a lot to this.
