Another attempt from this morn, a bit of sun and a large waterproof jacket over the lens for weight, oh and also i tightened the nuts on my 393 head, might of had something to do with it!!!

Hi Andy,
This is looking sharper on my monitor than the previous one for sure. What a lovely background this is with a nice composition too.

Hi Andy,
Great shot of this wonderful goldfinch!
Love the dark BG but would try to get rid of the light spot in front of the bird (perhaps due to cloning?) and i would use some noise ninja or neat image on the BG as there is quit a bit of noise present.
Greetings,
Jeroen Stel

Bg really makes this one stand out. Nice shot Eric
Very sharp, nice pose and lovely bird and it is a shame IMHO that the blacks in the bird are lost in the BG which otherwise really makes the bird stand out

Tidy shot, great light. I like the glint in its eye.

Nice and sharp and a nice comp Andy
As Jim says it's getting a bit lost in that gorgeous but very dark BG - a bit of careful masking and you can tone it down a tad and get some subject separation happening.
Nice one matey

As stated Andy the BG makes this sharp image stand out but it does let the tail area disapear into it.
