Just a heads up for a full lunar eclipse coming on February 20, 2008. The eclipse will be full over much of the continental US and in the Eastern Time zone will begin at about 10 PM and be over around 11 PM.

You can read about the eclipse here:

http://www.hermit.org/Eclipse/2008-02-21/

If the weather is clear around the northeast perhaps we ought to create some categories for pictures of the eclipse taken from Up State NY, the 6 New England States, and eastern Canada. Categories could be best picture the eclipse. Best time-lapse picture, most creative picture, most creative Photoshop interpretation, and maybe the funniest. What ideas do you have?

This is an eclipse that will be easy to shot because the best of it will all be over before 11 PM.
By the way Rich Ennis has a picture of the lunar eclipse taken the night the Red Sox game 4 victory over the St Louis Cardinals. He superimposed a red sox logo on the moon for a great image!! Rich - that one will not be eligible!! It will have to be this year! (Rich - maybe you can post yet again!)

What categories should we have for this on-line exhibit? Tell us your ideas . . .

I'm planning on shooting this event. I don't know where yet, but if anyone else is planning the same, let's get together.

Hi Jim

I replied to your email and got no reply, so not sure if you got it or not, hence the repost here. I'd love to meet up with you, and the other Jim, next Wed to shoot this eclipse. I was thinking of getting together before hand to discuss stratergies and locations. Let me know your thoughts, either here, or either email mickymac1@yahoo.com or michael.mcneill@ae.ge.com

Mike,

The email feature in NPN is normally very reliable! I did not see your email. The fact that I have to make a round trip to New Jersey on Wednesday will probably remove any chance I have for an eclipss shoot this year. Not to mention the weather forecast!!
Lets try and get together for some spring wild flowers when th eweather warms?

Not a problem Jim. I know the cyber world isnt perfect, and emails get lost. If you're going to NJ check the weather forcast and bring your camera and shoot the eclipse there!!

I'm always up for get togethers!! I'm akways open to try new places, and meet new photographers. To me that's the best way to learn the craft. Keep me in mind and hopefully we'll get together soon.
