And in not-so-related lens news: Sigma introduces the world's first 500mm f/2.8 zoom lens - the Sigma 200-500mm f/2.8 lens weighs in at around 35lbs., requires its own Li Ion rechargeable battery, and comes with a dedicated 2x tele-converter, turning this into a 400-1000mm f/5.6 lens with full autofocus capabilities.
Oh - and it looks like it would be right at home on a military base. (It has a green rubberized shell.)
Geez! Would you use that thing to shoot pictures or to shoot missiles? The damn thing looks more like an RPG launcher than a zoom lens...

Wow, I don't see where the turret mount is. Maybe it comes with an optional Humvee mount. How the heck do you zoom it, I don't see a handy zoom ring.

I sure hope they also have it available in red or blue. Don't care for that shade of green.

I wouldn't advise walking anywhere near an airport carrying that thing. Homeland Security would be locked and loaded. (Either that, or they'd let you through, but confiscate your mouthwash and nail clippers.)

Looks like last year's announcement was similar to this year's, but the shell on this year's incarnation is more terrifying.

Just got back from PMA. You will buy this lens for about $25k. Its only available in Nikon, Canon and of course the popular Sigma mounts. I'll take prepaid orders for all interested parties! -Scott-
