Hello all,

Well, I've heard y'all have snow. Here in downtown PDX we haven't had ANY (my 4&1/2 old is waiting anxiously though). I still don't have many chances to leave town for photo trips right now, but vlose by the Japanese Gardens was open and they did have a little snow & ice. So I tried something different here. See if you like it.

It's Ortonized leaves frozen in the pond and I pumped up the sat of the leaves. Just a quick shot for fun. Neat or not?

Kevin

I like it, kevin. I think the arrangement is pretty orderly, and the orton effect seems to be consistent with the subject matter; though I'd suggest reducing the intensity of the effect a bit here to bring a little more detail in the leaves.

Looks beautiful to me. Can someone talk briefly about the Orton Effect?

Hey there Kevin. Glad to see ya back on the board!

I like the Framing you choose and am sure this would look wonderful hanging up....

the web version being so small just isn't working for me! was there more to the scene? Could you have placed the frozen water and leaves in the foreground as an addition to the rest of a scene!

I think this has tons of potential. I like this one a lot, just think it needs to pop a little more somehow...

I'd also vote for less of the Orton effect. Doesn't seem to add to this shot - more saturation would

Just what I was hoping for, everyone. Darren, Rick, Trevor - let me work more on this & then repost and see where this leads to.

Definitely a good one to play with. I kind of like the Orton effect here, but would like to see another to compare. I agree with adding a bit of contrast pop, and a slight vignetting might be an interesting effect.
