So the 725B is out of stock everywhere I've looked. Should I wait for it or is there a suitable replacement that isn't too much different in cost??
Thanks!!

Try Amazon. They look like they're in stock there. Whoops, now they are not.
I spoke with the online retailer I do all my business with because I've been meaning to upgrade my 724B to the 725B because of the quick-release, and they said they'd been on order from the factory for a bit over a month, and the fact that everyone seems to be out of stock may be related to delays at customs.

If you don't need to run right out and use the tripod in a hurry and are settled on it as your choice, I'd phone one of the online retailers using their toll-free number, find out an expected wait time and place an order to make sure it ships as soon as they get it.
If you're sweating to get out there and use the tripod right NOW, maybe it's time to look at a different tripod that's in stock. Up to you.
This 725B will be able to handle that Sigma 180mm right?? I think that's what I've decided on getting.

If that's the tripod you want, wait it out! You're talking about a major purchase that will last a long time - get what you want, and accept no substitutes! You'll be happy you did.

It is in stock at Roberts. I know they are not mentioned here much but I have ordered from them (my 30D) and they a good company.
Yeah...thanks everyone. Right now I'm looking at Manfrotto's catalog to be 100% sure that the 725B is what I want.

Kyle,
If you not sure about which tripod you might want I might suggest the Manfrotto 3001. I have one and while you will need to choose a head for it and it will cost a little more than the 725 it is also a little more sturdy. According to the B&H website the 3001 will support 11 lbs as opposed to 7 lbs for the 725.
I haven't seen the 3001 anywhere? Is it any older model?
What about that Tripod head with the grip on it?? The grip action ball head, do you all like that? Looks like it may be worth the extra pennies for ease of use.
