Hi Ian - welcome to the forum :toast: :toast: :wavey: :wavey: :jump: :jump:

If your image is on a server just reload the bigger version to that url, then we'll see it at full size - no need to wait.

Looking forward to seeing your images :wavey:

All the very best

Andy

Thanks for the suggestion, I Tried and failed.

One quick question is the UK/Europe section for people in UK/ Europe or for photos taken in UK/Europe, ie am I OK to post pictures from Japan and Africa cos I live in Scotland?

Thanks

Ian

You can post to the UK forum from anywhere as far as I know Ian - the mods will confirm

Now then, your image:

Your image is at the following url: http://www.outdoorphoto.co.za/forum/photopost/data/517/thumbs/small_ape.JPG

which is your small pic.

Save your big pic as 'small_ape.JPG' on your local machine (your 'puter) and then upload it to your server, if you get a prompt for 'overwrite file' then click OK.

It will work :wavey:

If you can, always try and post your techs for the shot as well

Sorry as you will have guessed I am not much of a puter person.

The original image was saved as a larger file and submitted to a forum in South Africa, as part of doing this they gave the URL address and made the thumbnail. I then copied the address for the thumbnail:frown: and posted it here, ooops should have been the bigger image.

I think this means I cannot change the address of the big picture as they gave it the URL address and I have no access.

One other option If i delete this topic complete with the picture, can I resubmit and not wait the 71hours?

Looks like I am making a great start on this forum

Thanks for the help

Don't worry about it mate!
 :wavey:

If you have the URL of the big image, as the post author, you should be able to edit your post from the menu screen then simply substitute the old URL for the new one.

Apologies if I've misunderstood your post and got this all wrong!

Ian - if you can redo the image to 700-720 on its longest side it would be better matey :wavey:

I'm off out few a couple of hours but I'd be only to happy to post it for you when I get back in.

I won't do it know just in case you can do a bigger image, as even I can't re-enter image URL's in my own posts.

Andy

Thanks for the offer, I have yet more questions

How do I get the picture to 720 without going over the 200kb rule, I have got it down to 360 but no lower. If it is simple I will resize, if not then I will take you up on your offer and please post it as is.

Great thanks

Hi Ian,

In CS or Photoshop when you save for web, next to the preset box you will see a little arrow for optimize menu, click that and set your desired file size, 90k should be about right. Also you can repost the image in your replies, no need to wait 72hrs or someone else to post.

Welcome to the foprum

Phillip

Thank you, and all those who have helped, Hopefully my second shot will be smoother

The photo was take whist visiting my in-laws in Japan at the hotspring that is most well known. Taken with the Canon 350d and the bog standard lens. ISO 800, 5.6 at 1/250. Getting very dark but very co-operative models.

That damn foot in the bottom right really anoyes me, will cheat with Photoshop when I know how

We post agian soon, most images to start will come from exotic locations whilst I try and get some beter local stuff.

Again thank

Ian
