Has anybody ever shot Springfield lake in the winter time for ducks and geese? If so where should I go to find some birds? I've heard it's a great spot but never talked to anyone that has ever been there. Thank you.
Hi, I live in Springfield, but am not an avid birder so I don't have extensive knowledge. The few times I've been to the lake I've seen plenty of canadian geese, mallards, and seagulls, but I'm not sure if that's what you're looking for. I've seen a few wood ducks at Washington Park, and if you want birds like woodpeckers, hawks, and other less common birds I'd check out Carpenter Park on the NW end of town. Hope this helps! If you know of any good places around Springfield for photography, let me know. I don't think central IL is too well known for great landscapes
