(thought I would copy Marc's topic title 'cause I couldn't think of one! )

Im organizing my photographs tonight and I saw this one and thought I would post it. It is Sparks Lake, with Broken Top in the background. The lenticular clouds this day were amazing and as much as I like the color version, I think the black and white looks good as well.!

Thanks for looking/comments.

Great processing on the B&W....

Not to take anything away from this light-fest Khristian... Have you experimented with crops below the len-cloud to showcase the lake?

Larry: I have not tried that yet. I just find it so hard to give up the cool cloud! But I will experiment with some crops and maybe some other shots of the scene to see how they look...Thanks for the tip/comment.

This is a gorgeous image Khristian. I love the B&W processing, and that sky and light on the land is spectacular. I might consider cropping 10%-15% off the sky, only to tighten the composition. Beautiful image regardless. :toast:

Amazing scene and beautiful image, Khristian. It certainly works as is, though I was thinking the same thing as Zack - the bright clouds above the lenticular pull my eye away from the rest of the scene. For my tastes, I'd experiment with coming down even further, maybe 20%. I like the idea of the lenticular being as close to the top as possible - for me it suggests a more ominous scene and also keeps most of the highlights below the cloud, which keeps my eyes moving around down there instead of leaving the frame. Nice work.

Amazing clouds. Well captured. Nice tones and detail, beautiful B+W. I wouldn't crop any off the top. The clouds are the interest here and the upper part of the image with it's contrast adds to the psychedelic effect of the saucer like lenticular cloud. Nice light on the mountain as well.

Top of the mountains are un-naturally dark - I'd suggest working on the mask a little more..... I'd also look at that cloud in the sky - seems almost too overbearing due to high contrast... maybe a little less and it would fit the scene better.

Khristian, seems you have the "Adamus" luck for dramatics skys. What a beautiful scene!

As far a composition, I'm with Rick. The sky already has tons of drama from the top of the lenticular down. I think the scene has better balance if you crop that way.
