Winter Morning
Taken on top of Farleton Knott at sunrise this morning, it was bloody windy and cold! About fifteen minutes after taking this I was in the middle of a blizzard thinking to myself 'what the hell am I doing up here'.

This is one of my favourite trees on the limestone pavement up there. I've been trying to catch it in a diffent mood all year, so when I heard there was snow on tops I thought I'd wander up before dawn to see what I could get. I had to crank the ISO up to 640 for an aperture and shutter speed to get the DOF and freeze the branch motion but I think the image works.

D300, 28-70 F2.8D@40mm, 1/30@F13 ISO 640. Full frame with minor fiddling in NX and PS.

Very nice - I particularly like how the cloud in the upper right echoes the slant of the wind-blown tree.

Very pretty, its nice not to have to worry about ISO now for us nikon users eh. I'd like a little bit more space maybe.

Great lighting and composition. The way the light in the sky compliments the windswept tree. The snow on the windward side of the trunk. Absolutely beautiful. An image to be proud of.

You should be well proud of that, fantastic symetry with the tree and clouds, and lovely pastel colours.
