Hi,
Some two years ago I worked a pair of Great Crested Grebes that nested fairly close to the bank of a lake allowing good views. This year a pair seem to have bonded and look like they will nest not too far away... this image is from first light this morning... nearly fell into the lake on a couple of occasions as I discovered I had taken my torch out of my kit bag .
unfortunately the lake is not safe enough to use a floating hide...
I do want to improve on this image, its one that I was after just as the first rays of light broke through to light the bird but I am not happy with the loss of the crest into the dark bg, something to work at....
All the best
Phil

I like this, reckon you've a great idea here. I'd remove that light streak on its right. Really nice shot.

Wonderful moody image you got here Phil!
Like it a lot!
Agree on removing the white stripe on the right side.
Well done!

Hi Phil,
Cracking! Love it! Totally refreshing to say the least! Agree with removing the light stripe though. Got any more?

Nice image Phil, i'd guess you'd call this low key? I like the colour of the light very moody.

Now this is tempting!
Nice effort.

I like the way this has been picked out as if by a spotlight. I agree that seeing just a hint of the crest would have been a bonus, but it is very beautiful as is.
